EA Sports FC 27 is now available worldwide, arriving with a new social football space called The Grounds, major Career Mode changes and a free FC 27 Lite edition. The launch covers current and previous-generation consoles, PC and both Nintendo Switch systems, but the headline feature is not available everywhere.
FC 27 release date and supported platforms
Electronic Arts released EA Sports FC 27 globally on September 25, 2026. The full game is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, according to EA’s launch announcement.
EA does not list one universal launch price in that announcement. Pricing varies by platform, edition and region, so buyers should check the relevant console or PC storefront before purchasing. EA Play members can instead use a 10-hour trial, and EA says progress from the trial carries into the full game.
The Grounds is the biggest addition—with a hardware limit
The Grounds is a new social football playground connecting street-style matches with the Clubs experience. Players can take part in Kickabouts and one-on-one games, join friends in Clubs, meet football mentors and develop their created player.
There is an important restriction: The Grounds and Clubs are available only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The mode is absent from PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, even though the full game is sold for those systems. EA’s edition FAQ also says that content tied to The Grounds is accessible only on supported platforms.
Career Mode rebuilds transfers and player ratings
Manager Career receives a rebuilt transfer market with active bidding by clubs and player valuations enhanced by TransferRoom data. Negotiations now support performance and buy-back clauses. Dynamic overall ratings can move with a player’s form, morale and fitness rather than remaining fixed throughout the season.
EA has also added a web portal for building and sharing custom scenarios, alongside community-made and curated Manager Live Creator Challenges. Those changes could matter more to solo players than the multiplayer-focused Grounds mode, although their long-term quality will depend on balancing and post-launch support.
Ultimate Team adds a collection-focused Gallery
Football Ultimate Team introduces the FUT Gallery, where players organize sets of past and present player items, raise a Gallery Level and earn rewards. EA also highlights Holographic variants, Hall of FUT player items, simplified squad-building exchanges and new single-player live events.
As before, Ultimate Team includes paid random items and in-game purchases. The edition purchased can also change the amount and timing of included FC Points and premium-pass content. Buyers comparing editions should read the official edition guide rather than assuming every bonus is permanent or available on every platform.
FC 27 Lite is free, but it is not the full game
EA Sports FC 27 Lite is a free-to-download introduction available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, the EA app, Steam and the Epic Games Store. At launch it includes Kick-Off, Learn to Play, Online Friendlies and Online Seasons.
Lite does not include the complete Career, Ultimate Team or Grounds experience. It also requires a persistent internet connection and an EA Account, and EA warns that modes and content may not be available in every territory or at all times. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 are not listed among the Lite platforms.
What changed on the pitch
EA says FC 27 brings more fluid play, dynamic corner movement, improved attacking awareness and player-focused defending designed for competitive modes. The company also claims the game includes more than 21,000 players, over 800 clubs and national teams, 140 stadiums and more than 35 leagues through over 300 football partnerships.
Those are publisher claims, not independent performance findings. Server stability, competitive balance, animation quality and differences between console versions will need broader testing after launch.
Who should consider FC 27?
Players interested in The Grounds need a current-generation system, PC or Switch 2. Career Mode fans may find the transfer and dynamic-rating changes more meaningful than the social features. Owners of PS4 or Xbox One should buy only after accepting that the headline mode is missing.
For undecided players, FC 27 Lite and the EA Play trial offer lower-risk ways to evaluate the basic gameplay before paying for the full release. Gadget N Widget has not performed hands-on testing of EA Sports FC 27.
