Scuderia Ferrari HP and IBM have added a new set of AI-powered features to Ferrari’s official mobile app ahead of the 2026 United States Grand Prix in Austin. The update is designed to turn race data into a quicker, more visual story for fans who want to follow the team across practice, sprint sessions, qualifying, and race day.
The headline additions are a scrollable Race Timeline and expanded AI-generated Race Summaries. Ferrari has also introduced a pit-stop reaction game and a Tifosi Hub where supporters can submit short stories about what the team means to them. The app remains available for iPhone and Android.
A live timeline for the moments that change a race
The new Race Timeline collects important events from each Formula 1 session in chronological order. IBM says it can flag moments such as pit stops, fastest laps, weather changes, and Virtual Safety Car periods in a visual feed.
That format should be useful when a fan joins a session late or cannot keep a broadcast open. Instead of searching through multiple social posts, the timeline presents the team’s view of how the session developed. It is still a companion experience rather than a replacement for live video, complete timing data, or an independent race report.
AI summaries now cover every session
Ferrari’s Race Summaries previously offered post-session recaps, but the updated version expands coverage across practice, sprint, qualifying, and the Grand Prix. IBM says agents built with its watsonx technology combine complex race data with strategic observations from Ferrari’s drivers and team principal, then produce a narrative within minutes of a session ending.
The practical benefit is speed. A fan can get a concise explanation of the team’s performance without interpreting every lap chart. However, the summaries are generated from Ferrari’s own data and perspective. They may not include every rival strategy, penalty, technical detail, or disputed incident, so readers looking for a complete account should still compare official FIA information and independent reporting.
The Pitstop Reaction Game adds a lighter challenge
Inside the app’s Game Center, a new Pitstop Reaction Game asks users to choose the correct tire as quickly as possible. Results appear on a global leaderboard. It joins the app’s existing quizzes and predictor leagues, including options that can be played with friends.
The feature turns one of Formula 1’s most visible strategic decisions into a quick game. It will not simulate the full complexity of tire temperature, degradation, traffic, safety-car probability, or changing weather, but it gives casual fans a simple way to understand the pressure behind a rapid pit-wall decision.
A new space for Ferrari fan stories
The Tifosi Hub expands the app beyond statistics and games. Fans can submit six-word stories describing what Scuderia Ferrari means to them, and Ferrari may feature selected submissions inside the hub.
Anyone contributing should review the app’s submission and privacy terms first. IBM’s announcement does not explain selection criteria, moderation rules, or whether submitting a story grants Ferrari additional rights to reuse it elsewhere.
IBM is also using AI to build the app
The AI work is not limited to what fans see. IBM says its Bob development tools and IBM Consulting Advantage support more than 70 reusable AI skills and over 30 agents in the app’s product-development lifecycle. The companies report a 30% productivity improvement during measurements taken around the Monza and Madrid Grands Prix.
Those figures are company-reported and do not reveal how productivity was defined across every development task. Still, they show a second role for AI: producing the software as well as generating the race-day experience inside it.
IBM also reports that cumulative downloads rose 35% in the first year after the app’s May 2025 relaunch. Average monthly active users increased 36%, while engaged sessions rose 35%. These are internal measurements rather than independently audited usage figures.
Who will find the update useful?
The changes are aimed most directly at Ferrari supporters who already follow Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, and the team through a phone. The live timeline should help fans catch up during a busy weekend, while the summaries offer context shortly after each session. Games and fan submissions are more about community and repeat engagement than essential race information.
For non-Ferrari supporters, the app remains a team-specific product. Its analysis and editorial framing naturally center on Scuderia Ferrari HP, so it is best used alongside the Formula 1 app, FIA documents, or other coverage when a neutral view matters.
Availability and remaining questions
IBM announced the new features on October 22, 2026, ahead of the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas. The Scuderia Ferrari app is available through Apple’s App Store and Google Play. The announcement does not identify a separate charge for the new features, list regional restrictions, or specify whether every capability will appear simultaneously on both platforms.
More information is available in the official IBM announcement. Ferrari’s app can also be found through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
